Jersey Highlight: 2016/17 Tai Po FC Home jersey. After winning the 2015/16 First Division League, Tai Po promoted and participated in the top division again. They claimed their first Sapling Cup title in 2016/17, defeating Hong Kong Pegasus 2–1 in extra time, marking their second major trophy since the 2012/13 Senior Shield victory. Itaparica jointed Tai Po during the season. He played well and led Tai Po lifting the Sapling Cup. He was awarded Hong Kong Top Footballers at the end of the season.
