Manchester United secured a record-equalling 12th FA Cup during this season, defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 in extra time at Wembley. The club finished fifth in the Premier League, narrowly missing Champions League qualification on goal difference to Manchester City, while also competing in the Champions League group stage and Europa League. Juan Mata played a crucial role throughout the campaign, scoring ten goals across all competitions and notably finding the net in the FA Cup Final to level the score at 1-1 in the 81st minute, three minutes after Crystal Palace took the lead. Mata was crowned the club's Player of the Month in September 2015 after scoring two goals and providing two assists in three games.
