United secured a third consecutive Premier League title in 2000/01, their seventh Premier League crown, with Sir Alex Ferguson becoming the first manager to win three successive English league titles with the same club. Veteran striker Teddy Sheringham topped the club’s scoring charts and won both the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards in his final season before returning to Tottenham.
