This striking kit was worn during Bruce Rioch’s only season as manager, when Arsenal improved from 12th to 5th place in the Premier League. Dennis Bergkamp made his Arsenal debut in this jersey after his club-record £7.5 million transfer from Inter Milan, while David Platt returned from Serie A to add midfield experience. The team reached the League Cup semi-finals against Aston Villa and maintained the league’s best defensive record with only 32 goals conceded. Ian Wright scored 15 league goals despite an up-and-down relationship with Rioch’s disciplinarian approach.
