Did you know that Ruud van Nistelrooy and Son Heung-min, two lethal attackers in Premier League history, have been teammates?

They have both played for Hamburger SV during the 2010/11 season.

This season was significant for both players. It was the only full season and the last season that van Nistelrooy played for HSV. Meanwhile, Son signed his first professional contract on his 18th birthday and was promoted to the first team.

However, they played together in only four official matches, totalling just 158 minutes without scoring a goal when both were on the pitch.

Although their on-pitch combination was not as lethal as their individual careers suggest, they credited each other for their development.

Ruud highly praised Son's potential on Twitter in 2011, and that talent has certainly been showcased over the following 13 years.

"When I was at Hamburg, aged 17 or 18, Ruud van Nistelrooy signed and he helped me a lot. He saw my first training session and talked to me," Son revealed. "He told me I was a good player. He gave me confidence, and I want to thank him."

“We had a really good team and were successful for a time. I was only young. I listened to him and tried to learn from what he was saying."

Fun Fact: Despite not scoring when both were on the pitch in official matches, they both made an impact in the 2010 LIGA total! Cup. In pre-season friendlies, van Nistelrooy scored against Schalke 04, while both players found the net against 1. FC Köln while playing together!
