2005 Argentina
The 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup was the first major tournament where Messi made a name for himself. Wearing the number 18 jersey, Messi scored six goals throughout the tournament and helped Argentina win the U-20 World Cup. He was also awarded the Best Player award and the top scorer.
2005/06 Barcelona
Messi wore number 30 in the beginning stage of Barcelona era. In that season, Messi started to play more minutes, including his first El Clasico. Playing alongside his idol Ronaldinho, Barcelona won the La Liga and Champions League this season.
2006 Argentina
Messi made his first appearance in the FIFA World Cup in 2006, wearing the number 19 jersey. In World Cup 2006, Messi made his debut and scored his first World Cup goal.
2006/07 Barcelona
In the 2006/07 season, Messi was assigned number 19, which is a first team number, signifying his rise. During the number 19 period, Messi showcased his exceptional skills in dribbling, including his memorable solo goal against Getafe and a hat-trick against Real Madrid.
2008/09 Barcelona
In the 2008/09 season, Messi took over number 10 from Ronaldinho, solidifying his status as a key player for Barcelona. Under the management of Pep Guardiola, Barcelona achieved a historic sextuple, and Messi won his first Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards.
2010/11 Barcelona
The 2010/11 Barcelona team was widely considered to be one of the greatest of all time, and even legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, their opponent in the Champions League final, called them the strongest team he had ever faced. Messi led Barcelona to win the Champions League for the second time in three years.
2011/12 Barcelona
In the 2011/12 season, Messi showcased his unparalleled goal-scoring ability, scoring 73 goals in 60 matches. Along with his record-breaking 91 goals in the calendar year of 2012, these achievements remain unmatched.
2014 Argentina
In the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Messi captained Argentina for the first time in a World Cup. Despite reaching the final, they were defeated by Germany. Although Messi received the Golden Ball award, he fell just short of the ultimate glory in football.
2014/15 Barcelona
With the World Cup disappointment on his shoulders, Messi returned to his club and formed what could be considered the strongest attacking trio in history alongside Neymar Jr and Luis Suarez – MSN. Their attacking power struck fear into the hearts of their opponents and ultimately led Barcelona to achieve the quintuple.
2016 Argentina
After 2015, Messi's Argentina reached the Copa America final once again. However, they were defeated to Chile in consecutive years. After these disappointments, Messi contemplated retiring from the national team but ultimately decided to continue representing his country. Without this decision, fans would have missed out on witnessing his subsequent brilliant performances.
2020/21 Barcelona
Since the age of 13, Messi has been a member of Barcelona, and everyone expected him to retire at Barcelona. However, as Barcelona faced financial difficulties, forcing Messi to leave Barca cruelly in 2021. 2020/21 season was his last season with Barcelona.
2021/22 Paris Saint-Germain
After leaving Barcelona as a free agent, Messi joined the Paris Saint Germain. As his former teammate Neymar Jr already wearing number 10, Messi decided to wear number 30 jersey that he wore when he started his career.
2021/22 Argentina
Not being able to win any major championships for Argentina senior team has always been Messi's regret and pursuit. In 2021, he finally made it to win the Copa America. Later in 2022, they won the Finalissima by defeating the EURO winner Italy.
2022 Argentina
The 2022 Qatar World Cup can be considered as Messi's crowning moment. Before the tournament, the only trophy missing in Messi's career was a World Cup, and he finally lifted the World Cup in front of the whole world. As the captain, Messi won the World Cup Golden Ball. He has become an Argentine national hero.
2022/23 Inter Miami
After leaving Paris Saint Germain, Messi unexpectedly went to the United States to join Inter Miami. In addition to the commercial impact he brought, he continued to perform at a high level on the pitch, leading Inter Miami to win their first championship in club history - the Leagues Cup.
