Produced by Castore, the shirt introduced a distinctive black base with an oversized red Bayer cross across the chest, the club’s first kit to feature the cross so prominently, inspired directly by parent company Bayer’s own logo. This jersey was worn during arguably the greatest season in Bayer Leverkusen’s history: under head coach Xabi Alonso, the club won its first-ever Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal, becoming the first team ever to complete an entire Bundesliga season unbeaten (28 wins, 6 draws) and setting a European record of 51 competitive matches without defeat. The jersey was on the pitch for the title-clinching 5-0 win over Werder Bremen on 14 April 2024, in which Florian Wirtz scored a hat-trick. Wearing the #10, Wirtz recorded 11 goals and 11 assists in the league that season, earned Bundesliga Player of the Season honours, and was named Player of the Month three times.
