The jersey officially debuted on August 31, 2018, when Roma visited AC Milan in Serie A at the San Siro. During this season, Roma finished sixth in the league and reached the UEFA Champions League round of 16 under manager Eusebio Di Francesco. Justin Kluivert signed with the club in the summer of 2018 for his first season. Kluivert chose the number 34 to pay tribute to his former Ajax teammate Abdelhak Nouri.
