This Puma-designed kit featured a classic white design with the Mansion sponsor, worn during Luka Modrić's first full season at the club after his £16.5 million transfer from Dinamo Zagreb. The season started disastrously with the worst opening eight games in Tottenham's 126-year history, leading to Juande Ramos being sacked and replaced by Harry Redknapp. Under Redknapp's management, the team recovered dramatically to finish 8th in the Premier League, while reaching the League Cup final at Wembley on 1 March 2009, ultimately losing to Manchester United on penalties after a goalless draw. Modrić scored crucial goals during the season including strikes against Chelsea and Manchester United, while contributing to one of the most memorable North London derbies in history, a thrilling 4-4 draw against Arsenal featuring a stunning David Bentley volley.
