The jersey was worn during the 29th Guangdong–Hong Kong Cup in 2007, a fixture commemorating the tournament’s co-founder Henry Fok, where Hong Kong overturned a first-leg 1–0 deficit with a 4–2 extra-time win at home to lift the title on a 4–3 aggregate score. The competition took place while several squad regulars, including Lo Kwan Yee and Chan Wai Ho, were featuring prominently in the Hong Kong side across 2006 and 2007.
