The D+ sponsor replaced Sony for Serie A and Coppa Italia away matches, while Sony remained for European fixtures. Juventus finished Serie A runners-up under Carlo Ancelotti, losing the title on the final day to Lazio after leading most of the season. The team won the UEFA Intertoto Cup (defeating Rennes in the final) but suffered a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup fourth round.
