This blue-and-white striped Umbro third shirt, carrying the SHARP sponsor, is associated with Manchester United’s 1994–97 away-kit cycle and David Beckham’s early first-team years. The #10 print is particularly appropriate for 1996/97, when Beckham wore the number before inheriting the club’s #7 shirt following Eric Cantona’s retirement. United completed the Premier League and FA Cup double in 1995/96, then retained the league title in 1996/97. The blue-and-white striped shirt is remembered most for the 13 April 1996 match at Southampton: United trailed 3–0 at half-time and changed into their blue-and-white kit for the second half, after which the grey strip was never used again.
